Parish Mission Statement
Jesus Christ said to St. Philip the Apostle,
"Come follow Me."
As members of the parish community of St. Philip's, we seek to live as disciples of the Lord by living our faith through service to others.
Based on a strong faith, a guided hope and a well rooted love, we encourage all to walk that journey with Christ with humility and courage.
St. Philip’s is blessed with a very dedicated group of people who form the choir, and over the years they have developed into a fine musical organization. Parishioners and visitors to St. Philip’s frequently comment about the quality of the choir and the dimension it adds to worship. St. Philip’s Adult Choir is currently composed of 23 volunteer members. Under the direction of Steve Sauer, the choir often sings hymns and anthems before and during the 9:30 Sunday Mass and at Masses for other Feasts and celebrations throughout the year.
Additionally, the choir family prays together, sharing their joys and concerns. Keeping members’ needs in prayer contributes to the oneness of the group. Members of the choir also enjoy friendship and fellowship at several parties throughout the year. They provide meals to members when need arises, and a meal to to the homeless at St. Mary’s each September. During Lent, members cook and serve one of the Parish’s Friday Lenten Meals.
Membership in the adult choir is open to anyone 18 years and older who has a desire to praise God in song. The ability to read music IS NOT necessary. If you like to sing, please join us. High school students and adults of all ages are invited to participate. Rehearsals are generally on Thursday evenings from 7:00-8:30, from September through May.
We welcome anyone with a desire to serve God and the parish through the music ministry. As St. Augustine said, “He who sings well, prays twice.” If you are interested in this Spirit-filled and musically talented organization, contact Steve Sauer at email@example.com or at the Parish office at (717) 872-2166, ext. 109.
