Cantors are gifted vocalists who lead the singing at Mass. They greet us, welcome visitors, remind us to silence our cell phones, lead the Prayer to St. Michael the Archangel, and tell us where to find the hymns. And that’s all before the opening hymn starts!

Cantors are particularly noticed at the Responsorial Psalm where they sing the verses and guide the parishioners in singing the response. Their job is to keep the singing at the correct tempo and in the correct key.

Cantors report to the Director of Music and must attend rehearsals as well as the Masses to which they are assigned. If you are interested in singing as a cantor, please email Steve Sauer at or reach him through the Parish Office.

Cantors may find their schedules posted here.
