Mission
The mission of the Boys Scouts of America is to prepare young people to make moral and ethical choices throughout their lifetime by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and Scout Law. (BUT DON’T TELL THE KIDS THAT!) To kids, the Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts are about FUN. Whether it is Pinewood Derby, Rainbow Regatta, First Aid, Camping, Swimming, Fire Building, or Target Shooting, the kids had better be having fun or they are not coming back. Cub Scouting and Boy Scouting is fun with a purpose.
Purpose
The purpose is to demonstrate how you can have fun and still be prepared to make the difficult moral and ethical choices by living out the values of the Scout Oath and Scout Law.
Scout Oath
“On my honor, I will do my best to do my duty to God and my country and to obey the Scout Law; to help other people at all times; to keep myself physically strong, mentally awake, and morally straight.”
Scout Law
“A Scout is Trustworthy, Loyal, Helpful, Friendly, Courteous, Kind, Obedient, Cheerful, Thrifty, Brave, Clean and Reverent.”
If you agree that these are the values you want passed on to your children, contact the Cubmaster or Scoutmaster to learn how you can be a part of this important effort. You will have fun too. If you are interested in contacting either the Cub or Boy Scout Master, please call the parish rectory or check the parish website for the leaders’ names at our Organizations page.
