Parish Mission Statement

Jesus Christ said to St. Philip the Apostle,

"Come follow Me.

As members of the parish community of St. Philip's, we seek to live as disciples of the Lord by living our faith through service to others.

Based on a strong faith, a guided hope and a well rooted love, we encourage all to walk that journey with Christ with humility and courage.

Lectors, sometimes known as Proclaimers, have the tremendous responsibility of bringing the Word of God to the people at Mass. They read the first and second readings, and the Petitions or Prayer of the Faithful. Those in this ministry must be dedicated and exemplify good Catholic Character. With their voice they must be able to clearly proclaim the word so that those present will be able to hear it with reverence. To be a Lector, you must be 16 years or older and go to at least one of the training sessions offered. Prayerfully consider if this is the work to which you are called. By sacrificing your time in the preparation of the delivery of the word, you will be His mouthpiece bringing His voice to comfort and minister to his people.

If you are interested in becoming a Lector, please contact the Parish office at 717-872-2166.
