St. Philip’s is a Tithing Parish

Tithing is not a diocese mandated initiative. Tithing began at the request of Fr. Weiss, which was reviewed and endorsed by the Finance Council. It was a part of the stewardship efforts in which it was felt that increased giving from parishioners should be supported by increased giving by the parish to needy causes.

Beginning July 1, 2020, the start of our new fiscal year, St. Philip The Apostle parish will temporarily stop weekly tithing due to the financial constraints caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. This virus has caused a lengthy interruption of Masses, and caused so many families to be negatively impacted by this virus. It has correspondingly, diminished our parish’s finances and ability to continue to tithe. We will continue to make financial contributions to local charities from our Poor and Needy account as finances allow.
